Film Critique

My role in the film was the director and the main actor. I played the character who wants to take back what was stolen from him. My Character is a good person who is in business and makes a lot of money. It's not in the film but his father just passed away and he wants to design his will. Its turns into a confrontation with my characters own flesh and blood. My characters quest to take back what he lost turns deadly for him. I designed the entire film, but the shooting didn't go according to plan. We had to disobey our location diagrams to make the picture because the diagrams didn't provide the greatest of shots for the film. We looked at them and tried to work with them but they unfortunately worked against us. The shots we improvised were a lot better than what I had planned out. This shot right here was an improvised shot. Along with this one.

The overall project is not what I had counted on because some of the lighting is not right and the blocking could have been more precise. The acting from Dan could have been more articulate and the death scene of Austins character, Austin could have been more limp and not as tense.
Overall the project was ok and hopefully we can make a better project next semester. We pulled through this project although the production process killed us. The preproduction process was discussed, and debated and it was a lot of trouble. The film was still a lot of fun to do, yet stressful but we got it done and we were relieved.
The locations were pretty good in terms of setting and it really brought the story to life.
This shot here establishes the act of spying, secrecy and a sinister act. The script was hard to write because we had to show our intentions in the film without using much dialogue.
We managed to make the script the way we wanted and the actors did a great job. The shots really.

The film relates to Film Noir in a number of ways. The music really relates to film noir because it sounds very dark and sinister. It matches the genre very well and the final sound effect is great but wrong. My characters neck is snapped the cracking sound effect was the best sound effect we ever got. The ending music of a low Female choir expressed a very dark sense of death in the film and that's my personal favorite music track. The lighting overall especially in the beginning could have been different but we didn't have the materials to manipulate the light to what we really needed. My character in the final scene was perfect in terms of light but Dans character was the exact opposite. That was the down side of the lighting but it is pretty good overall. The acting was very Noir like in terms of attitude and expression. The actors including me fell into their character and brought the story to life.
